ORNATE TRIANGULAR-HEADED METAL PLAQUE WITH INSCRIPTION IN RELIEF

?REGIMENTAL CREST IN RELIEF AT THE TOP CENTRE OF THE PLAQUE. INSCRIPTION IS FLANKED BY TWO COLUMNS. ADDITIONA CREST AT THE BOTTOM CENTRE OF THE PLAQUE

HE DIED AT/ KROONSTAD ON THE 25TH MAY 1900 DURING/ THE SOUTH AFRICAN CAMPAIGN AGED 34./ THIS MEMORIAL IS ERECTED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE REGIMENTAL FUND/ THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR ALFRED NEWTON BART LORD MAYOR
