Details for: Loss of Halifax II (Reg. HR659 EY-A)


Historical Data:
Taking off at 2051 from Linton-on-Ouse for a mission against Plzen, their Halifax II (Reg. HR659 EY-A) was intercepted on the outbound journey and shot down, at 12,000 fett, by the combined fire of a Me 109 and Me 110. The aircraft crashed near Trier. Two crewmen, including F/L Mortenson died, the remaining five were captured and made prisoners of war.
