Details for: Sinking of HMS Kipling


Historical Data:
On 10 May 1942, HMS Kipling, a 'K" Class Destroyer, was deployed with HM Destroyers Jackal, Jervis and Lively to intercept a convoy en route in the eastern Mediterranean. On 11th May 1942 the four ships came under sustained attack from 14 Junkers Ju-88 bombers. HMS Lively was hit and sank with the loss of 76 crewmen. HMS Kipling was attacked by a second wave of aircraft based in Greece and also sank quickly with the loss of 25 crew.
