Details for: Convoy HX109 - sinking of SS Pacific


Historical Data:
The SS Pacific was en route from New York to Grangemouth via Halifax. She had a cargo of 9000 tons of steel and scrap and was part of the 37 ship convoy, HX109. On 1/2 March 1941 she was torpedoed and sunk by U-95 (captained by Schreiber) in the Atlantic 180 miles west south west of Sydero, Faroe Islands. The Master, captain Alan Francis King, and 33 crew ere lost. One crewman was rescued by the Icelandic trawler DORA and landed at Fleetwood on 5th March 1941.
