Details for: Loss of Hampden I (Reg. P1152 VN-)


Historical Data:
Taking off at 1720 from Swinderby for a mine laying (gardening) operation in the Nectarines area, their Hampden I (Reg. P1152 VN-) returned early due to icing. Over home territory, they strayed from track and crashed at 0200 into a hillside at Guisborough, 4 miles SE of Middlesborough on Guisborough Moor, Yorkshire. Three crewmen were injured, but Sergeant Neale was killed.
