Details for: Sinking of HMS Cornwall


Historical Data:
HMS Cornwall was a County class heavy cruiser. In early April 1942, with her sister ship HMS Dorsetshire, she escorted the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes to Trincomalee in Ceylon for repairs. On 4th April a Japanese carrier fleet was spotted and the two cruisers left harbour. They were both heavily attacked and the Cornwall was hit by eight bombs and sunk in 12 minutes.
