Details for: Air raids on Saturday 11th January 1941


Historical Data:
Saturday 11th January 1941. Due to snow at their bases and general bad weather, Luftwaffe operations were kept to a minimum for the beginning of January creating a much-needed respite for Londoners. This day, however, there was a major attack against London lasting from 1825 to 2130 hours. The City and Government quarter were the main targets but neighbouring areas were also hit, especially the area south of the Thames, Finsbury and Kensington. Bank Station was hit this night with the loss of 35 lives. In all, 105 people died throughout London. A number of properties were damaged in Islington. Brewery Road and St. John Street were hit with the loss of seven lives.
