Details for: Air raids on Saturday 12th October 1940


Historical Data:
Saturday 12th October 1940. On the day when the planned German invasion of England, Operation Sealion, was officially abandoned pressure was maintained on the British air defences. There were seven main attacks during the day, of which five penetrated as far as London. London was also the principal target during the night, with raids from 1900 to 0300 hours the next day. 70 Londoners were killed and 29 elsewhere. A number of properties were damaged in Islington. Isledon Road was hit with the loss of 19 lives. The Luftwaffe lost 13 aircraft this day.
