Historical Data:
Thursday 26th September 1940. Throughout the day, raids focused upon a number of industrial sites around the country. At Woolston the Supermarine Works suffered severe damage, which led to the total cessation of Spitfire production, slowing deliveries in the next few weeks. At 2030 hours, attacks commenced against London and continued until 0300 hours the next day. The Houses of Parliament received extensive damage this night and Westminster Abbey was damaged. A number of properties were damaged in Islington. Beresford Road, Camden Road, Clarence Way, Cornwallis Road, Duncombe Road, Mitford Road, St. Paul's Road, Sussex Way and Tollington Way were hit with the loss of 40 lives.
