Details for: Air raids on Tuesday 10th September 1940


Historical Data:
Tuesday 10th September 1940. After dark London was bombed by single aircraft in succession throughout the night. On this night the South Hallsville School in Agate Street, West Ham, crowded with refugees from bombing on previous nights, was severely damaged by a direct hit. The Council's official death toll was put at 73 - but local reports suggest that up to 450 might have died. Four Luftwaffe aircraft were lost throughout the day. A number of properties were damaged in Islington. City Road and Bride Street were hit with the loss of one life.
