On the right are listed the individual events and incidents, such as battles or air raids. Details for: Air raids on Monday 9th September 1940


Historical Data:
Monday 9th September 1940. A daytime raid of some 300 aircraft took place from 1635 hours and focused on the Thames estuary and south London. One group of 35 aircraft, however, penetrated into Central London. From 2000 hours however, further raids focused entirely on the London area, continuing into Tuesday 10th. The Luftwaffe lost 27 aircraft this day. A number of properties were damaged in Islington. Gee Street and Guinness Buildings, Lever Street were hit with loss of nine lives.
